Terms of Service
These terms cover your use of Scale Lock, a web app that adds harmony to a Korg Pa-series keyboard over USB MIDI. Scale Lock is made and sold by Nik Stefanovski, an individual based in Ontario, Canada ("I", "me"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms.
01Your account
You sign in with your email address. Keep access to that email, because sign-in codes are sent there. An account is for one person; please don't share it. You must be at least 13 years old to use Scale Lock.
02Free trial
New accounts get a 14-day free trial with no payment details required. When it ends, the app asks you to choose a plan. The trial is one per person.
03Plans and payment
- Monthly ($4.99 USD per month) and Yearly ($29 USD per year) renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- Lifetime ($99 USD) is a one-time payment.
- Sales tax or VAT is added at checkout where it applies.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Paddle's own buyer terms also apply to your purchase. You can look up any order at paddle.net.
04Cancelling
You can cancel a monthly or yearly plan at any time from the app: open Plans, then Manage billing. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again. Refunds are covered by the refund policy.
05Lifetime plan
A lifetime plan gives you access to Scale Lock, including updates to the web app, for as long as Scale Lock is offered. It's personal and can't be transferred. If I ever stop offering Scale Lock, I'll give at least 60 days' notice by email.
06Price changes
If the price of a monthly or yearly plan changes, I'll email you before your next renewal at the new price, so you can cancel first if you want. Price changes never affect a lifetime plan you've already bought.
07What you need
Scale Lock needs a browser that supports Web MIDI: Chrome on Android, or Chrome or Edge on Windows, Mac or Linux. It does not work on iPhone, iPad or Safari. It also needs a supported keyboard connected by USB. Please use the free trial to check that it works with your setup before you pay.
08Using Scale Lock
You may use Scale Lock to practise and perform, including at paid gigs. You may not:
- copy, resell, rent or redistribute the app or its code;
- get around the sign-in, the access checks or the payment system;
- share your account, or use the app in a way that harms the service or other users.
09Live performance
Scale Lock runs in a web browser and depends on your device, browser, cable and keyboard settings, any of which can change with an update. Always test your full setup before a performance. I'm not responsible for problems during a performance, such as missing or wrong notes, a dropped connection, or a device that stops responding.
10No warranty
Scale Lock is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, I make no promises that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under consumer protection law where you live.
11Limit of liability
To the extent the law allows, I'm not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost income or a lost booking. My total liability for any claim about Scale Lock is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the claim.
12Ending your account
You can ask me to delete your account at any time by emailing support@scalelock.app. I may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If I close your account for any other reason, I'll refund the unused part of any paid plan.
13Changes to these terms
I may update these terms. For important changes, I'll let you know by email or in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Scale Lock after that means you accept the updated terms.
14Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of Ontario, unless the consumer protection law where you live gives you the right to bring it in your local courts.
